2017 Toyota Camry

2017-toyota-camry-ncAs with every prior year model of this car, the 2017 Toyota Camry offers an outstanding driving experience, with engaging and agile handling, athletic performance, and a great range of technology features. It has tons of room inside, a great viewing range, plenty of trim levels and options, and a smooth engine. New this year is a standard premium sound system that was optional in previous model years.

Technology and Trim Levels

The new Camry comes in four trim levels: the base LE level and the higher-end SE, XSE, and XLE models. Also available is a hybrid. Standard base technology includes automatic headlights, keyless entry, heated mirrors, rearview camera, power driver seat (8-way with lumbar support), cruise control, access to Toyota’s Entune® infotainment system via 6.1-inch touchscreen and voice controls, the Siri Eyes Free interface, Bluetooth® phone and audio, USB and auxiliary ports, and a 6-speaker stereo system and CD player.

At higher levels, you can add options like paddle shifters, upgraded infotainment system with 7-inch touchscreen, HD radio and satellite radio tuner, LED running lights, heated seats, power passenger seat, upgraded 10-speaker premium sound system, Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control, wireless charging for devices, and upgraded suspension options.

Additional package options give you keyless entry and ignition, auto-dim mirrors, Blind-Spot Monitoring, Cross-Traffic Alerts, Lane Departure Warning, Collision Warning and Mitigation systems, automatic high beams, Adaptive Cruise Control, smartphone app integration, and navigation system, as well as Emergency Roadside Assistance notifications and telematics systems.

Safety and Performance

toyota-camry-interior-ncThe basic Camry has a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine which delivers 178 horsepower and is driven by a 6-speed automatic transmission. Upgraded engine options include a 3.5L V6 which puts out 268 horsepower, or the hybrid version whose 2.5L 4-cylinder delivers 200 horsepower. EPA-estimated fuel economy is around 28 MPG combined for the base engine, 24 MPG combined for the V6, and an impressive 40 MPG combined for the hybrid model.

Safety-wise, the Camry continues to deliver outstanding results. Aside from the basic expected features (anti-lock brakes, airbags, stability control) the Camry comes standard with a rearview camera, with higher trim levels adding Blind-Spot Monitoring, Cross-Traffic Alerts, Lane Departure Warning, and Collision Warning and Mitigation systems. The Camry earned a 5-Star Safety Rating in government crash tests from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and an overall best possible Good rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Comfort and Ride

The Camry delivers a ride experience that’s among the best in class for comfort and space. It has tons of trunk space (15.4 cubic feet for the regular and 13.1 cubic feet for the hybrid), great access and user experience for the controls and technology, and outstanding mitigation of bumps, jars, and road noise.
