2018 Toyota Prius ReviewIn this 2018 Toyota Prius review, we’re going to take a closer look at what to expect with this upcoming vehicle. We’ll explore the engine power and efficiency, the updated appearance, and the expected technology features. We hope that this review of the 2018 Toyota Prius helps get you excited and prepared for this vehicle’s upcoming release.

2018 Toyota Prius: Engine Power & Efficiency

Not many changes have been made to the engine of the Toyota Prius. Drivers can expect the 1.8L four-cylinder hybrid engine with a few updates to boost the vehicle’s efficiency from the already impressive EPA estimated 54/50 city/highway MPG* from last year’s model. The Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive is said to have been retooled along with the drivetrain for better control, less friction, and less wasted power. In terms of its abilities, we’re expecting that the engine, paired with the two electric motors, will deliver an output that will fall somewhere in the 134 - 150 horsepower range. The improved fuel economy will be credited to the electronic Continuously Variable Transmission, which provides smooth and efficient transitions in speed.

Updated Appearance

2018 Toyota Prius ReviewSince the body style of the Toyota Prius was updated in recent years, we’re not expecting a massive overhaul. Instead, we’ve heard about a few refinements to the appearance with the addition of the new Global Architecture Platform, which is set to make the Toyota Prius lighter and sportier. Toyota’s aim is to make the vehicle more fun to drive while giving the 2018 Toyota Prius a more refined, but alluring design.

Expected Technology Features

Drivers who enjoy the intuitive Entune™ system will be happy to hear that the 2018 Toyota Prius is set to showcase the Entune™ 3.0 system with a larger touchscreen, more app integration, and, of course, voice recognition for convenient hands-free access. The vehicle will certainly include a radio, a media hub (USB/auxiliary inputs), and Bluetooth® streaming. No word if the three-month SiriusXM® trial will be optional or standard.

Another huge deal is that the Toyota Safety Sense™ P system is back as a standard feature. This impressive driver-assisting technology bundle includes the Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and even the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. These features are set to add security and convenience to your daily commutes.
